Christmas and New Year Community Events

By TCN on 20/12/2016

TCN wishes you a Happy Festive Season and All the Very Best for 2017!

In these days leading up to Christmas, please continue to enjoy the magical Christmas Windows, support our local businesses, and make a pledge to purchase at least one gift from Thomastown and watch the town blossom into the New Year!

Also, please support the following Community Events:

The Shepherd’s Play

Performed by Camphill Communities and the people of Thomastown. It will be presented on Thursday 22nd December at 5 p.m. and Friday 23rd December at 7 p.m. in the Community Hall. Admission will be €5 for adults and €2 for children. All proceeds will go to the Community Hall fund.

GOAL Mile

The 10th anniversary GOAL Mile – fundraising for the poorest of the poor – will take place on Christmas Day, Sunday 25th December. It will start at Market Street at 12.15 p.m. Come and join us for a walk or run for this great cause.

St Stephen’s Day Run/Walk

Thomastown GAA club will hold their annual St Stephen’s Day Run/Walk again this year. It will start at the Community Centre at 12 noon, and the cost will be €5 per person or €10 per family. All are welcome.

‘The Shift’

Due to popular demand, TCN is encouraging the community to revive the tradition nicknamed ‘The Shift’ on New Year’s Eve. Gather just before midnight in Market Street. Musicians are invited to play Auld Lange Syne…and if you are lucky, you get to kiss the object of your affection! (Hence the nickname ‘The Shift’). Hopefully next year it will be followed by the traditional dance in the Community Hall. Please spread the word!
