Our inaugural ‘Pumpkins in the Park’ event proved a spectacularly spooky success when it was held the day after Halloween.
Thanks to everyone who brought their wonderful creations! In total, 159 pumpkins were diverted from landfill, and were sent to be composted instead.
A big thank you to Bernadette from the Environmental Awareness Department of Kilkenny County Council, for providing funding for the event and coming to share information of food waste reduction.
Thanks too to the Thomastown Scout Group and the Two-Hour Gang for loaning some of their equipment. The Thomastown Community Employees worked hard to get the carpark tidied up for the event. Healys Pharmacy donated a First Aid kit to TCN and Breda Gardner generously gave her time to help out as our First Aid attendant. Thanks also to the Seniors Charity shop who let us borrow a few cups for people who didn’t have their own reusable cup.
We had a great group of volunteers throughout the day and evening. It couldn’t happen without the great community support!
